Safeguarding and wellbeing

This page is maintained by FeFe. Health research into issues affecting women with a female reproductive system asks about personal and sometimes difficult things, so these protections apply to every study run through the platform.

Adults only

FeFe is for people aged 18 and over. Accounts found to belong to someone under 18 are closed and their data deleted. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

You can stop at any time

You can leave a study at any point, for any reason, without giving one. You can return an unfinished place on FeFe, and inside a researcher's study you can simply close the tab. Withdrawing does not affect your standing on FeFe or your existing balance. If you withdraw part way through you will not be paid for that study, because the work was not completed, but no other penalty applies.

Sensitive topics

  • Researchers must say in the study description when a study covers distressing topics, for example pregnancy loss, infertility, sexual violence, serious diagnosis or bereavement.
  • Researchers must give participants support signposting at the end of any study covering those topics.
  • You are never required to answer a specific question to be paid, where the study allows a prefer-not-to-say option.

Your identity stays with FeFe

Researchers do not receive your name, email address or contact details from FeFe. They see an anonymous submission record. Researchers must not ask for your identity or contact details inside a study unless the study description said so and you agree.

Reporting a problem

Email marianatmatthews@gmail.com if a study upset you, asked something it should not have, tried to identify you, or behaved unfairly. We aim to acknowledge within 3 working days and to reach an outcome within 30 days. We may pause the study while we look into it, and we will tell you the outcome. See also our complaints process.
